Flex is a Gem for Mednikow Jewelers

We have been working with Jay Mednikow many years now, six to be exact, and in that time he has been extremely generous in indulging our desire to push the envelope in web development. His company, Mednikow Jewelers, was our first client to use our i3SiteTools site management system.

When Jay approached us earlier this year about wanting to introduce e-commerce into the mix of his Jewelry site his words were: "I want to create a unique shopping experience, unlike any of the existing jewelry retailers out there."  We talked at length about the user experience and how we wanted to decrease the amount of noise and frustration typically associated with shopping online --- particularly for jewelry.

As you know from reading previous blog posts, we are extremely excited about Adobe Flex 2.0 and have been working with it since the early Alpha release. We have talked at length in the office about types of client projects that may lend themselves to this exciting new world Flex has opened up.  After showing Jay some prototypes and examples of what powerful interfaces are now possible leveraging Flex 2.0, he was sold and we begun development.

The goal was to build a clean, easy to use storefront that would showcase Mednikow's amazing jewelry and deliver a seamless shopping experience from browsing all the way through check-out. It was truly a collaborative process among not only our team members, but also with Jay, who knows his business better than anyone else.

I must confess, we got carried away.  Once we built the store front, we could not resist the opportunity to build out the store administrative tools using Flex as well ( but that's a story for another day ;-)

This blog could go on for another couple of days to talk about all of the functionality we packed into the store, and what is yet to come, but for now, I think you might just like to see if for yourself!
